When you pay a credit card from one of your bank accounts, VaultKeeper receives the payment in two halves: the payment arriving on the card, and the money leaving your bank account. The card and your bank often report them on different days, so for a day or two the card's half can show as income.
When your bank's half arrives, the sync usually offers it as a transfer between the two accounts, and importing it turns the income into that transfer. You can also change it to a transfer yourself, from the account you paid from and for the same amount: your bank's half is then recognized when it arrives and isn't counted twice. If you paid from an account that isn't connected, the payment stays income until you change it.
Money moving between your own accounts, such as checking to savings or paying a card, is a transfer. It isn't spending or income, so it doesn't count in your monthly totals. When both accounts are connected, VaultKeeper pairs the two sides into one transfer when they're for the same amount and no more than a few days apart. You can turn any transaction into a transfer by editing it.
Under the balance of a connected wallet, the grey Bank line shows what your bank reports. The balance above it adds up your transactions in VaultKeeper. When the two don't match, the Bank line turns orange.
Usually a transaction hasn't been imported yet, or your bank has already counted a charge that is still pending here, and it clears after the next sync. If it stays orange, look for a missing or duplicate transaction, or check the wallet's Initial balance. Investment accounts never turn orange, because their value moves with the market rather than with transactions, and neither do wallets set to Balance-only sync.
A charge your bank hasn't settled yet comes in as pending. When it settles, VaultKeeper updates the same transaction, including its amount if it changed, for example when a restaurant adds the tip. A hold your bank cancels disappears by itself within a few days.
Pull down on Home to sync your banks (on a Mac, use Sync Banks). If a transaction from a few days ago still doesn't appear, your bank may have posted it late with an earlier date. Tap the sync button on that wallet, choose Specific date range, and pick dates that cover it.
For an account whose transactions you'd rather enter yourself, turn on Balance-only sync for it in Settings › Bank Connections. VaultKeeper keeps its balance up to date from your bank and imports none of its transactions.
Apple makes these accounts available on iPhone only. Connect them on your iPhone in Settings › Bank Connections › Connect Apple Wallet. Your Mac and iPad then show what your iPhone syncs.
With Premium, invite people in Settings › Household. Everyone in a household sees and edits the same wallets and transactions; connecting banks stays with the household's owner. Someone who doesn't have the app yet can install it and then open your invite link again, or paste it under Join with a link in Settings › Household.
